Egyptian Asian Diplomat Lady Experiences the Charm of Chinese Paper-cut Art

The newly elected Chinese Ambassador to Egypt (ADWA) of the 2012 Asian Diplomatic Women's Association (ADWA), Ms. Wang Jinjin, held a regular meeting at the residence of the Ambassador to Egypt, and nearly 30 members from 20 countries including Singapore, India and Indonesia attended the meeting.

The 18 venues decorated with large-scale paper-cut works and various paper-cut albums selected and distributed by the Cairo Chinese Culture Center suddenly attracted the attention of the guests. Ma Ling, a volunteer of the Cultural Center Chinese language volunteers, made a special trip to the scene to teach everyone to learn how to make paper-cut arts and crafts, and let the guests put it down and try it out.

Ms. Sis from the Philippines has always loved Chinese culture for many years and has been in Hong Kong for three years. She was very happy that she had learned how to "smile and double happiness" today and said that when she went back, she would make more works for her friends who were going to marry. A woman from India asked Ms. Ma Ling for a lot of paper-cutting samples. She said that after learning, she would go back and teach her three children to exercise their patience. Singapore’s Ambassador to Egypt’s ambassador to Egypt learned meticulous paper-cutting techniques, and took away all paper-cutting manuscripts before leaving. The guests were all happily holding their own hand-made paper-cut works, taking pictures and happy. In the end, all the guests also watched the feature film "China Paper-cut Art."

The Asian Association of Diplomats for Women was established in 1975 to strengthen the understanding and exchanges between the diplomats of Asian countries in Egypt and to deepen the solidarity and friendship between Asian women and Egyptian women's organizations and women in the world. Currently the association has 46 members from 23 countries and regions.
