U.S. yarn textiles will be tax-free into the Philippines market

Philipy L. Domingo, director of the Philippine Trade Bureau, recently revealed that the Philippines is working hard to contact the U.S. Congress and urges the U.S. to pass the clothing laws before the end of the year. Therefore, this bill may become part of the agenda of President Aquino’s U.S. trip.

Domingo said that it is very important to pass the “Saving our Industry Law” before and after the end of the year, because if the Congress changes in the near future, this bill will be grounded, which means that the bill will be resubmitted. The U.S. mid-term election plan will be held at the end

He mentioned that the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate have not passed this bill so far. Therefore, more efforts need to be made.

The purpose of this clothing act is to benefit the garment industry, because after the adoption of the bill, garments and clothing entirely produced in the Philippines will receive a tariff-free entry into the United States, but there is an additional condition that these clothing and clothing must use American textiles, Fabrics, yarns and cotton.

Correspondingly, American yarns, textiles and fabrics will also enjoy tariff-free access to the Philippines. This bill will also benefit the United States and the Philippines. It will create employment opportunities for both countries.
