U.S. Announces Voluntary Recall of Girls' Shorts in China

On December 9, 2010, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and American Eagle Outfitters Inc. jointly announced the voluntary recall of Chinese-made girls' shorts.

The girl's shorts that were recalled are denim fabrics. The style number is under the warning label. It is suitable for girls from 12 to 18 months old to 5 years old. The recalled styles and style numbers are: SkinnyCord, 3007; BoyfriendVintageWash, 3012. ; CutOffBermudaShort, 3013; FlareVintageBlueWash, 3029; FlareLTWash, 3030; FlareRipandRepair, 3034; RollCuffBermudaShort, 3035. The denim shorts are sold at the 77kidsby AmericanEagle store and its website in the United States from July to August 2010, and are priced at 24 to 34 US dollars per article.

The number of products recalled this time is about 1,200. The reason for the recall is that the metal buckles at the waist of the shorts are easy to fall off. If they are eaten by the children, they are at risk of suffocation. Up to now, American Eagle Outfitters Inc. has not received any accident report.

To this end, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately remove the shorts that are recalled from children. Consumers who purchase through the Internet can return the purchased denim shorts to American Eagle Outfitters Inc. and receive a full refund through “Postage Paid”. Other consumers can contact the nearest 77kids by American Eagle store for returns and full refunds.
