China's total cotton imports are expected to reach 5.3 million tons

According to historical data, the average cotton imports in July and August from 2003 to 2010 were 207,000 tons and 221,000 tons respectively, of which the cumulative import volume in 2005 reached the maximum, and the imports in July and August were 29.0 million tons and 28.6 respectively. During the current year, foreign cotton imports showed a sustained “blowout” trend, and the import volume in July and August this year was reasonably higher than the average of the same period of previous years. From a country point of view, from September 2011 to May 2012, India, the United States, Australia, Brazil, and Uzbekistan were the major sources of cotton imports to China, with a total of 1.738 million tons, 993,000 tons, and 374,000 tons respectively exported to China. Tons, 332,000 tons and 242,000 tons of cotton accounted for 86.5% of China’s total cotton imports since this year.
