New Textile Technology: Black Kevlar Fiber

Japan's Teijin Aramid has started producing the first black aramid fiber named Twaron Black (Black Tvalon) in Eman, the Netherlands. Previously, due to the chemical process, aramid fiber was hardly dyed. Tewaren is usually golden yellow. It is now possible to produce the same quality full black yarn for the first time. Its strength is five times that of steel of the same weight and it is commonly used in the production of vests, ropes, cables, sails and firefighters' clothing.

Gert Frederiks, CEO of Teijin Aramid explained: “Hartronium fibers combine the characteristics of aramid fibers with a beautiful appearance. Although black aramid fibers have been produced in the world, they are not as standard as Tevalien. The same characteristics as Lun Fibre.” According to customers' requirements in the sailing and sports industries, Teijin Aramid began to study other colors of Tevalon. Black Tevalon will make his debut at the world's largest ocean race Regatta Volvo Ocean Race.
