Spring malls began to sell hot Khmer prices forced spring prices 15%

As spring approached, with temperatures gradually rising, department stores began to roll out their new spring collections. However, a recent survey by a reporter revealed that this year's spring clothing prices have increased by more than 15% compared to previous years. According to merchants, the main reason for the price hike is the rise in cotton prices this season. On the morning of the report, the journalist visited several large shopping malls and brand clothing stores in Lanzhou City and found that spring clothing prices had risen significantly compared to the same period last year. Women's clothing saw the most substantial increase, with some items going up by as much as 20%. In Zhangye Road Pedestrian Street, well-known brands like Metersbonwe, ONLY, and VERO MODA introduced new spring collections. Long-sleeve T-shirts typically rose by 20 to 50 yuan, while single jackets went up by 40 to 100 yuan. For example, a men’s shirt that was priced at 80 or 90 yuan last year now costs over 100 yuan. At the Eastern Market, spring clothes that previously sold for 30 to 40 yuan have seen an increase of 8 to 10 yuan this year, while women’s suits have gone up by 40 to 50 yuan. Ms. Wang Chunyu, a customer shopping at the mall, told the reporter, “I wanted to add some new clothes to my wardrobe. I went around the mall several times and noticed that clothing prices have gone up again this spring. Previously, I could buy a whole set of clothes, but now I can only afford one piece.” In response, some merchants explained that the price increase this spring is mainly due to the rising cost of cotton. With raw material prices and production costs on the rise, it's natural for spring clothing prices to go up. According to a report from "China Finance Network," global demand for cotton has surged, causing U.S. cotton prices to continue climbing. The domestic cotton market has a strong correlation with U.S. cotton, with a coefficient of approximately 0.956. As U.S. cotton prices rose, domestic cotton futures followed suit. On February 17, the Cotton 1109 contract on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange reached a high of 34,870 yuan per ton. From "China CottonNet," the journalist learned that as of February 18, the spot price of the Chinese cotton index (328) was 30,326 yuan per ton, up 75 yuan per ton from the previous day. This trend has led to a general increase in fabric prices nationwide. In the Guanghui Fabrics Market in Lanzhou, the average fabric price has gone up by 4 to 8 yuan per meter. One shop owner noted that the purchase price of fabrics currently sold in his store is nearly the same as the retail price of similar products from the same period last year, meaning the price increase has been passed on to consumers. With the continued rise in cotton and fabric costs, it's clear that spring clothing prices in Lanzhou are being affected, and this trend is expected to continue into the coming months.
