Overview

Is the general name of Guangdong embroidery art, it includes the Guangzhou-centric "wide embroidery" and Chaozhou as the representative of the "evolution embroidery" two schools. With its historical origins, exquisite craftsmanship, strong decorative composition and rich colors, Embroidery Line is smooth and bright, with clear texture, free and easy lines, gold and silver pads embroidered with strong three-dimensional sense, magnificent embroidered goods, unique local style and artistic features. It is unique in China's embroidery art, and juxtaposition with the Soviet Union, Xiangxi, and Qiang embroidery. It is known as the "Four Famous Embroidery in China."

In the Tang Dynasty Su-E, the book "Duyang Miscellaneous Chapter" describes the exquisite craftsmanship of Yuexiu: "Yongzhen first year (805) Nanhai (the name of the county, where the rule is located in Panyu, now Guangzhou) Gongqi female Lu Meiiang, Year 14 is incomparable in craftsmanship, capable of embroidering seven volumes of the Chinese Sutra of the Chinese Sutra at one foot. The size of the words is not more than the size of the chestnuts and is clearly defined. It is as simple as a hair. As a flying fairy, the cover is divided into three strands with a wire hook, dyed into five colors, and the gold is covered with jade...."

During the period from the Tang Dynasty to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, as Guangzhou belonged to the border areas and did not receive the influence of the war, embroidery, like agriculture and handicrafts, enjoyed considerable development. From the Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, the skills of Yue embroidery have been further improved. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Guangzhou set up embroidery lines, and Guangzhou, Chaozhou, and other places also set up embroidered villages, embroidered squares, and Yuexiu to present a thriving scene. After the founding of New China, the famous masterpieces continued to emerge under the promotion of the "double-hundred policy."

Variety

With the prosperity of Yuexiu, there are more and more varieties of Yuexiu and the scope of application is very wide. Among them, high-end embroidery mainly includes banners, hanging screens, and Taiwan screens.
